Star International was founded in 1995 by Talat and Rita Khan. Both Mr. and Mrs. Khan started their careers in hotel management. Mr. Khan was on the management team of Oberoi group of hotels, Corporate Executive with Hyatt International and Managing Director of Neptune hotels. Rita is a chartered accountant and worked as financial controller for Hyatt Regency and held the position of Director Finance for Quality Hotel. They focussed their vision to owning and operating a hotel in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Upon arriving in Calgary in the 1980s they invested in the old Airliner hotel on McKnight Blvd and Edmonton Trail NE in Calgary, AB Canada. Throughout the years they renovated, upgraded and revamped the property under both Travelodge and Quality Hotel which is a brand of Choice hotels Canada.
